  Why So Many Young People Are Leaving The Watchtower

  i have been giving a lot of thought to the young people who are leaving the watchtower organization in recent years.

  last night, i was reading the thread posted by jwfacts a while back in which he provided some statistics and graphs showing the rapidly declining growth in the watchtower.

  one factor that was discussed at length was the high number of young people who do not stay in the organization.

  I esp. like your comment about the resturant that only serves bland food, and then blames the customers, this is something

  i went to the last dc in amherst this summer.. on sunday the symposium part on appreciating the messianinc king's appealing personality.... the part on self-controlled opened up with an illustration that i kid you not repulsed me so much i had to get up and walk about in the concourse, go to the bathroom and splash cold water on my face.. the speaker opened up by saying a man grabbed a pig in a headlock and proceeded to punch its face, over and over as hard as he could.. just visualizing the illustration almost made me throw up.. there was no way i could sit through that talk.. the speaker went on as if the illustration was an excellent example of how some people lack self-control.. how about showing some self-control in choosing illustrations that don't make people cringe or gag, brother?.

  was that really in the outline?.

  was that illustration used in other dc's?.

  I'm a humane investigator, if I heard that for sure I would have searched the speaker down afterwards and told him how ridiculous that illustration was. I wonder if he ever saw this picture and the reaction that was caused by people seeing it.

  Using something like this in a religious-type talk,,, unreal.

  This article was sent to me. I could not help but think about the witnesses while reading it.

  Number 1 – They Think, Say, & Do Negative Things.

  Yup. They see problems in every opportunity. They complain that the sun is too hot. They cursed the rain for ruining their plans for the day. They blame the wind for ruining their hair. They think that everyone is against them. They see the problems but never the solutions. Every little bit of difficulty is exaggerated to the point of tragedy. They regard failures as catastrophes. They become discouraged easily instead of learning from their mistakes. They never seem to move forward because they’re always afraid to come out of their comfort zones.

  1), Witnesses are ALWAYS looking at how bad the world is. If you look at something outside of the org. as good there is something wrong with you spiritually.

  Number 2 – They Act Before They Think.

  They move based on instinct or impulse. If they see something they like, they buy at once without any second thought. Then they see something better. They regret & curse for not able to take advantage of the bargain. Then they spend & spend again until nothing’s left. They don’t think about the future. What they’re after is the pleasure they will experience at present. They don’t think about the consequences. Those who engage in unsafe sex, criminality, and the like are included in this group.

  2), Everything revolves around what the wt. states, do you have problems? get out in service. Quit your FT job and work PT and expand your ministry. Don't really think about it,,,, just do it.

  Number 3 – They Talk Much More Than They Listen

  They want to be the star of the show. So they always engage in talks that would make them heroes, even to the point of lying. Oftentimes they are not aware that what they’re saying is not sensible anymore. When other people advise them, they close their ears because they’re too proud to admit their mistakes. In their mind they’re always correct. They reject suggestions because that will make them feel inferior.

  3), Hits the bullseye, what else is there to say

  Number 4 – They Give Up Easily

  Successful people treat failures as stepping stones to success. Incompetent ones call it quits upon recognizing the first signs of failure. At first, they may be excited to start an endeavor. But then they lose interest fairly quickly, especially when they encounter errors. Then they go & search for a new one. Same story & same results. Incompetent people don’t have the persistence to go on and fulfill their dreams.

  4), Failures are caused by not relying on our God and the wt org. Fulfilling your dreams ???? We will help you to squash them and focus your life on going door to door selling our version of salvation.

  Number 5 – They Try to Bring Others Down To Their Level

  Incompetent people envy other successful individuals. Instead of working hard to be like them, these incompetent ones spread rumors and try every dirty trick to bring them down. They could have asked these successful ones nicely. But no, they’re too proud. They don’t want to ask advise. Moreover, they’re too negative to accomplish anything.

  5), Successful people in the world are completely blind as to what the future holds. The ones who are having a rough time, and focus on our belief system are the only ones who are really successful today. Just listen to any symposium at one of the assemblies

  Number 6 – They Waste Their Time

  They don’t know what to do next. They may just be contented on eating, getting drunk, watching TV, or worse, staring at the blank wall with no thoughts whatsoever to improve their lives. It’s perfectly fine to enjoy once in a while. But time should be managed efficiently in order to succeed. There should be a proper balance between work & pleasure.

  6), If you were ever a witness, this is no doubt one of the highlites ! A proper balance between work and pleasure????? Focus only on

  the wt religion and you will be happy.

  Number 7 – They Take the Easy Way Out

  If there are two roads to choose from, incompetent people would choose the wider road with less rewards than the narrower road with much better rewards at the end.
  They don’t want any suffering or hardship. They want a good life. What these people don’t know is that what you reap is what you sow. Efforts & action will not go unnoticed. If only they would be willing to sacrifice a little, they would be much better off. Successful people made it through trials & error. They never give up. They are willing to do everything necessary to achieve what they aspire for in life.

  7), Is your life sort of hard? Satan is causing your problems so go out in service more and participate in the meeting better. Is your life going pretty good??? You are loosing focus on serving God so get out in service.

  Loosing loved ones to death while still a witness

  just wondering,,, have any of you lost family members or friends to death while you were still a jw ?.

  if so, how did you feel about it while still a witness, and perhaps how did your viewpoint change after leaving, thinking that soon everything .

  you were taught about the "coming new order" would become reality ?.

  If so, how did you feel about it while still a witness, and perhaps how did your viewpoint change after leaving, thinking that soon everything

  you were taught about the "coming new order" would become reality ?

  I lost several members while a witness, but when my Mom died three years ago it really showed me how totally uncaring these people can be.

  While I was out of state helping my Dad get everything taken care of a week after she died one lady told my wife at the hall,

  "well you know that he needs to come back to the kh soon so that we can tell him how sorry we all are".

  Just wondering if anyone else has experienced something like this, Thank you for your comments !

  My public talk on sunday

  i am currently preparing for the public talk on sunday and as i was looking through the outline some these thoughts just keep popping up my mind that in the face of several allegations and numerous scandal, wbts has not stopped claiming to be god's organisation, i am wondering if they will ever realise that their strategies are no longer appealing to the general public.

  regrettably, they keep on publishing and printing using victims of mind control hazards to the detriment of over 7 million rank and file members and spiritual illiterates in the society.

  i keep on pondering on how long this malicious activity would continue.

  If you believe what the wt states then fine, otherwise get a brass pair and screw 'em on tight and start to be honest with yourself.

  district convention vs. surgery...not kidding

  wife has been to two already....hers and another with a gf for a gf weekend dc thingy....her cuz has a part on the dc about two hours away and she wants to see him and fam......so taaaadaaaaa my elder/dad is taking me to the hospital.....the good ol...we can talk to you if it is a family emergency option overide ......good god (not) this is so insane....i feel like i am the twilight zone...........oompa.

  i mean morals...natural inborn morals....that you love and protect your family and you show them love and not just say it......
